The Huen's Story
First Generation
The Legacy Began
In Hong Kong, four generations ago, Huen Chi Yan first ventured into the handicraft industry. Through hard work, dedication, and a deep passion for his craft, he earned a reputation as both a skilled craftsman and a respected businessman.
Renowned for his meticulous creations made exclusively from natural, organic materials, his works were cherished by collectors and widely distributed across the region. This legacy of excellence laid a strong foundation for the generations that followed.
Second Generation
Carrying the Craft Forward
Driven by a desire to expand the family business beyond Hong Kong, Huen Kam Chun set his sights on Singapore in the 1980s. Not only was he entering a new market, he was also expanding the business into offering jewellery. With quiet determination, he began building relationships in a community unfamiliar with his name.
In 1988, encouraged by the growing support of his customers, he opened our first retail shop in Singapore, Yan Heng Jewellery & Arts. As the business gained momentum, his wife and children joined him, and together they strengthened the foundation he had laid. With their support, and the trust of the community behind him, Huen Kam Chun formally established our family name in Singapore with the founding of Huen’s Jewellery and Art in 1994, setting the stage for the third generation to one day take their place and carry the family’s legacy forward.
Third Generation
Forged with Resilience
In the wake of the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, Mark Huen and the Huen's family faced a defining crossroads. Realising that their modest offerings were no longer enough to sustain the business, Mark made a bold decision to chart a new course forward and founded Huen’s Diamond in the same year.
With a focus on fine natural gemstones, Mark sought to serve customers who appreciated rarity and timeless quality. He raised the bar not just in product standards, but also in service to understand each customer personally and guide them toward a piece that truly resonated. In doing so, he built something deeper than a business: he built lasting relationships anchored in sincerity, care and quiet excellence.
Fourth Generation
Embracing New Horizons
Today, Max and Marcus Huen join their parents at Huen’s Diamond, bringing fresh eyes, steady hands, and a digital perspective shaped by their generation. As they bring the business into a new era, they continue to honour the values of trust, quality, and sincerity that have defined the family legacy for generations.
